The Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) AKA: Common kestrel is the commonest bird of prey found in the Pelhams.  You can usually spot one hovering near roadside verges or perched in a high position looking for rodents.

They frequently use man-made sites to nest such as church spires and other tall buildings and even more unusual locations including pylons, cranes and even a window box!

It has a rufous brown flecked wing covers with a slate grey rump and nape.  The chest is pale with spots.
