Bob watches in the early hours of Sunday morning (8 Jan 2006) as eight fire engines and 40 firemen fought a fire that raged through Duck Street Barns, Furneux Pelham. 

The beginnings of the fire were noticed as steam rising from the thatched roof after guests had left a dinner party.  July Ramsey praised the fire services who arrived well within 15 minutes and saved surrounding buildings.

Bob and July particularly wants to express their thanks to local villagers who have helped them through the night and with offers of accomodation for the next while.
